A round leather bound box used to carry or store records, money or valuable personal items either at home or while traveling. Covered with brown hair-on leather and brown gimp. The interior is lined with a reproduction hand block printed laid paper. Iron top handle and iron hasp with wire wound hinges to hold the lid on.

Document Box

Riven Oak Box
This box is made by splitting out the material, rather than sawing. The sides are connected with wooden pins and the lid is held in place with snipe hinges. It has a carved floral pattern of tulips, vines and leaves with a stippled background. It is painted with a base of orange and a second coat of black. oil/varnish finish with wax.

Riven Oak box
Riven material is split, rather than sawn. The bottom board is pine and the top board is quartered oak. The lid is held in place with snipe hinges. Endless or rope banded carving surround carved flower rosettes. It is painted with a base of green and a second coat of black. oil/varnish finish with wax.

Carved Bible box
This is a copy of a desk box or they are often referred to as a bible box. The design dates from the late 17th century. These boxes were meant to hold personal papers, writing materials or family bibles. The thumb molded lid is held on with iron double scroll hinges that are made in my shop. The Box is made from riven red oak and the sides are joined to the front and back with rabbet joints and wooden pins. The lid is secured to the box with one of my Bradford trunk locks. The box is colored to give it an aged look and coated with an oil/varnish blend and wax.

Carved Oak Box
This is is a reproduction of a 17th century box often called a bible, deed or candle box. It has a carved floral panel on the front depicting tulips and leafy forms. The pine bottom has a thumbnail edge as well as the lid which is held on with snipe hinges. It has a custom lock supported by the carving. There is also a till inside the box. Dark brown aged oil varnish finish.

Carved Walnut box
Simple construction is common on these 17th century boxes, rabbeted corners secured with wooden pegs, nailed on single width bottom board and snipe hinges to connect the one pice lid. The lunette carving pattern comes from a group of boxes from Braintree, Massachusetts. A handmade lock and hasp finish off this box.

Miniature Blanket chest
This is a reproduction of a William and Mary period (1730) one drawer blanket chest with two false drawers. Applied moldings set off the three drawers. The sides of the case are dovetailed to the bottom and the box is supported by turned feet. The primary wood is walnut and the secondary wood is poplar. It has a hand rubbed oil/varnish finish.
